Tomorrow is September 1st!
That time of year when my brain starts to realize that the sweltering Arizona summer is almost over. Granted, temperatures will remain over 100 degrees for the next 6 weeks or so, but we have turned the corner!
We only truly have two seasons in Arizona.
We call them summer and winter or Heaven and Hell.
I have lived in Arizona since 1990 and I still hate the heat; I really have never gotten used to it and to be quite honest I am not fully myself in the summertime.
As I mentioned earlier, there is a switch that flips in my psyche as the cooler temps approach. I get happier, my joy increases and my frustration level decreases.
Essentially, I become less of a grouch! God forgive me, I am a work in progress!
I suppose it is silly to allow the seasons to influence my behavior; the joy of the Lord knows no season and it is my strength. But don’t we all have carnal things that we allow to control us to some extent?
I’m not saying I turn into an ogre in the summer. I don’t, but I can certainly tell the difference in my temperament.
So, as the glorious second season that we call “winter” encroaches on my beloved Arizona and I feel my blood pressure lower with the mercury, I will remind myself and my readers, that each day is a day that the Lord has made, rejoice and be glad in them; all of them.
